Uncle Charles' wife [Alpha Clark Yoakum] came to see us, aunt Nellies' [Nellie Yoakum Shryock], and aunt Minnies' [Minnie Yoakum Florida]. Aunt Minnie was down quite often. I think she and Daddy had lots of fun. She was down from Meeteetse when Patsy [Anna's daughter] had polio. Pats was so sick.
Clair [pilot], my first husband, was born in Wisconsin, and loved the west.. He came to work for us on the ranch and of course, we fell in love! We made many trips to Wisconsin and one time we went to Kansas City to pick up mother, as she was visiting her brother in Blue Springs, Missouri.
Clair passed away in 1973, after having Alzheimer's disease for about 7 years. I remarried in 1979 to his former boss who lived in Rawlins. His wife had also passed away several years before. Then Norris [Stubbs] passed away in '92 with Alzheimer's, too. It's an awful disease. His family lives in Kearney, Nebraska. They are lots of fun, and I spent all of April with them.
June 10th!!
Have been up to see Bessie [cousin-Bessie Florida McLean, daughter of Minnie Yoakum Florida] She is doing real good. Does a lot of fancy work. Am glad she can see to do that, and it also gives her something to do. The place where she is, is a real nice area. Outside so beautiful, trees, lawns, next to the Holiday Inn, and not too far from the hot pools. The country was so pretty, so green- Stopped to see a movie in the making at Hell's Half-Acre; that's between Shoshoni and Casper. Some sort of a Star Trek thing. It's sort of a bad land type area. They had security guards all around so I didn't get to see what I really wanted to see. Ha! Kinda curious, I am. They had scads of semi's around. Guess there is a lot of equipment to haul..
Am going to Nebraska next week to a wedding June 22nd, and then light back here, to go to another one in Arizona the 29th, Guess I'll fly to Tucson. Really don't want to go that bad, but it's Norris' great granddaughter, and her dad passed away, so that I'd better go.
